We unite Mums and Dads to take on parenting together!
Everything from baby’s first outfit picking, maternity and nursing bra measuring, car seat fittings, sleep safety advice, breast feeding support, baby care and pushchair choosing to baby wearing, playtime and baby development…we’ve got everything and so much support to go along with it. All, of course, thrown in with an excited ‘eeeekkk’ as we help people become families
What makes your business unique/special?
It’s just such an amazing time for expectant, new and growing families and we are so lucky to be involved and part of their journey. From the moment newly pregnant couples arrive in store to when they come in to show off their new bundle of perfection and for many years after. I love that we can round this out with making memories for families with classes in store like Baby Splash and Baby Sensory. It’s just so much more than just a shop and all the team have such an energy for what we do
What item/service on your menu or in your shop do you just LOVE and think everyone needs?
Oh there’s so many to choose from! I love our Little Bird clothing range because it’s so bright and fun, our comfy maternity range with sparkly bits coming in for Christmas and the Joolz Day is without doubt my favourite pushchair especially being in Cornwall…but, my one hero product would have to be the Nuna Rebl Plus car seat. I’m such a champion for all things car safety. There’s so much information online for our soon-to-be Mothercare families and we know how daunting that can be. Throw in to that the fact that they are putting in a car their most loved little thing in the world and it can all get a bit scary. Not only are we trained and constantly updated on the latest car seat regulations direct from the suppliers but we can also fit the car seat and teach the customer how it all works in their car too with our car seat fitting service. So for me, to be able to take that worry away and find them the safest most practical and most comfy car seat is a great feeling
In what way have you gone above/beyond in the past for a customer?
Working with families gives us so many opportunities to go above and beyond. From home visits to deliver an item to making clothing donations to the neonatal ward or running across the road to refit a car seat so a new family can make their first trip home. Every day is so different and I love how it brings another way make someone’s day that little bit better
What are you passionate about outside of your business?
I love being active and being better at anything than I used to be. Whether it’s cycling faster, lifting heavier or personal growth. It’s just so important not to forget who you are and what you are capable of
Describe your perfect day?
This is an easy one! A lazy early morning with my husband quickly turning in to a workout at the gym. I love all things active and a workout is the best way to start the day! Then nothing better than fresh air by the sea so it’ll be a trip to the beach with all the family. Cornwall is just so great. I have 3 year old twin nieces who are just so much fun and growing everyday so a run around the beach is always full of laughing until your sides ache! Next up would be home to mum and dads with everyone- that’s always real home. And you can’t beat a Dad roast dinner, he does the best roast potatoes! Of course it will be all the family with my gorgeous big sister and hilarious little brother. And there’s nothing better than a mum cuddle, she’s the best and deserves a medal for putting up with us lot! Just a full family day making memories…bliss
What other local business to you love and why?
Jo Buckley Photography of course! Absolutely love all our Mothercare Community partners and working with them has been so much fun. They’ve all shown such passion not just for the businesses they run but for adding value and experience to families
From a personal perspective I love a day at Trevaskis farm. Everything they do is just so lovely. Feeding the donkeys, moo-ing at cows, picking yummy strawberries and all rounded off with a delicious restaurant and take home treats in their farm shop. I love what they do and it’s clear to see they do too
What’s your favourite biscuit!?
Chocolate hobnob…no, bourbon…no, wait, shortbread…no, hang on, jammie dodger…wait, do wagon wheels count?! Oh my goodness, I just love all biscuits! Now I’m off to make a cup of tea and find a biscuit to dunk xx
