The Lady Basset Physiotherapy Centre | LOVE LOCAL

Tell us about your business…what do you do?

The LBPC is a physiotherapy clinic which specialises in ‘Musculoskeletal Pain’ (this means pain from muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and nerves). We also have a Rehabilitation Therapist and Personal trainer. We can treat anything from neck & back pain, to sporting injuries or post operation rehabilitation.

Our rehabilitation therapist also holds specialist qualifications in pregnancy massage and pre / post natal personal training.

We are registered with most major health insurance companies and all of our Physiotherapists are HCPC and CSP registered, so if you have a work or personal health cash plan we are fully insured to treat you.

If you have any questions regarding our treatments or how we may be also to help you over come pain / meet your physical goals, we welcome you to give us a call and we’d be happy to discuss this with you in more detail.

What makes your business unique/special?

We are a small, friendly and personal clinic, and really have our patients best interests at heart. All of our treatments / advice / exercise plans are totally tailored to each individual.

As active people ourselves and I myself, having had one child and currently pregnant with another, know first hand what it is like to over come an injury or try to get back to physical activity after having a baby. Our friendly team are always on hand to give advice and answer questions, making sure our patients feel fully informed and empowered to take control of their pain / reach their goals.

What item/service on your menu or in your shop do you just LOVE and think everyone needs?

For me at the moment I would say pregnancy massage, its so relaxing which is great for me and baby. It helps with any aches and tensions that I have and also helps me to sleep much better! Once Ive had the baby I’m looking forward to starting some post- natal personal training with our rehabilitation expert.

For those of you that are in pain, acupuncture may be a fantastic treatment modality if you’re tried other options that haven’t worked for you. Acupuncture releases lots of brain chemicals including, endorphins which is a natural pain killer, serotonin which helps you feel relaxed and melatonin which makes you sleep better!

In what way have you gone above/beyond in the past for a customer?

There are areas of Physiotherapy that we do not specialise in and we are always honest with our patients about this. For example, if a patient wanted physiotherapy following an acute stroke or if a parent called asking for physiotherapy for their 5 year old son/ daughter, this would be beyond our scope of practice and we wouldn’t be able to offer any treatment. However, instead of just saying that we’re not able to help, we will go out of our way to network with other local providers to make sure that patient has access to the correct therapist / medical professional.

What are you passionate about outside of your business? We love Cornwall and love to be outdoors, so we spend lots of time as a family going for walks or getting to the beach (including an obligatory cafe stop for tea and cake!).

I think this last year more than ever has made us really appreciate where we live and being able to explore new footpaths and outdoor spaces!

Describe your perfect day?

Last year we went camping in Malvern and I loved that. Up early, breakfast on a camping stove and then walking in the hills all day! Beautiful!

What other local business do you love and why?

I have so much respect for all local businesses at the moment, its been a tough year and everyone has had to work hard and pull together.

I really like Meva Soap and Cosmetic based at heartlands, both my son and husband have eczema but these products don’t irritate their skin at all!

Why would you encourage someone to shop locally rather than online?

As I’ve previously said, this year more than most has been really tough for independent businesses; you only have to drive through some of our local towns to see the amount of shops that have closed already.

Its really important we support our local talent and professionals or we risk loosing them go to new destinations. Local providers will always give that extra personal touch and are more accommodating to a persons individual needs / requirements.
