On Friday we had the opportunity to work with the very talented Alastair Scarlett, Alistair specialises in capturing amazing underwater photography (of all types) We set out with the task of creating some really beautiful maternity photography, underwater!
At 38 weeks pregnant it was certainly a challenge to create some elegant shapes and I recon from poolside I certainly didn’t look elegant floating about! Being pregnant and in the water means you are extremely buoyant leaving only a split second to capture a photograph before you bob up to the surface again. Luckily Alastair had the patience of a saint and really took the time to make sure I was comfortable and happy with everything that we were doing.
From what I saw on the back of the camera Alastair managed to capture some beautiful portraits of bump and I, and even convinced Luke to take the plunge as well. I’m really looking forward to sharing the finished images with you all.
As Newborn photographers we are constantly taking photographs of families and their new arrivals, it’s a wonderful experience to feel what it’s like on the other side of the camera for a change. Looks like we are going to need to find some extra wall space at home!
